Bavarian Village (GCJHC9)

Julie and I took the boys up to my grandparents ski cabin by Steven's Pass.  We took the boys skiing for the first time.  It lasted about an hour or so.  After that we decided to head to Leavenworth and of course I had to find a geocache.  I haven't really done too many webcam caches so I figured why not try this one.  Oliver and I are the ones on the bleachers (circled in red).  All and all we had a fun day playing in the snow and visiting Leavenworth.

Rail (GC119KC)

The clue for this cache is "on top of rail" and they really mean it.  The cache was on top of this plaque about 7 feet off the ground so you could see the top but you could reach up there.

This was the first time Frank had found one of these types of nano cache.  When I pulled out the log and looked at it they really are pretty cool.

Youth In Asia (GCXBX3)

I don't want to talk about it...  This is a pretty cool park it's in the shape of a yin yang.

Needles to say we looked and looked but could find the cache.

UPDATE: May 4, 2010 6:00 AM

So I have been looking for this cache multiple times.  I finally gave up and asked for a clue.  With a little help I knew I could find it this morning.  So after getting off the train in Seattle I headed up to find the cache before work.

I couldn't believed I didn't find this one in all the times I had been looking.  I'm glad to finally cross it off my list.

I.D. Cache (GC148EC)

Out for some more Wednesday Caching with my buddy from work Frank.  We decided to head to the International District this time.  This cache was a quick electrical plate cover cache it took us a few minutes as the cache was covered with some ivy.  I forgot to get a picture of the cache but here is what it looked like.

There are also some cool Dragons on the power poles.

Trees With A View (GC1HATZ)

This was our last stop for the day.  It's another one of those I have been looking at finding but just haven't gotten around to it.  The boys don't like smaller geocaches that don't have toys so we usually find the ammo cans.  But this one has a nice view of the valley so we decided to find it.

Find 6 of 6 for the day.

Back Beyond Bob (GCK44J)

Since we were already at the Puyallup River we figured we might as well find another one along the river.  It was only about 1/2 mile down river from where we were and there was a nice gravel service road to walk along.

At first were were a little worried because there were a few sign like this one  saying No Trespassing, No Dumping, No Parking.  But there were at least 4 or 5 other groups of people in the area and I see people there all the time, so I assume it's ok.

JJ found this cache and Ethan found a squirt gun inside.  So he pretended to shoot everything we walk by for the rest of the day.

Find 5 of 6 for the day.

McBridge (GC16V7D)

This one is just down the hill from us in the area between Sumner and Orting.  It's right off the road over looking the Puyallup River.  As we were walking up Shawn started talking to this guy getting ready to go fishing so after like 15 minutes of Shawn talking we were able to make the find.

Find 4 of 6 for the day.

Grainger Springs (GCWD1H)

I have wanted to do this one for a while now but I didn't think I could take both my boys by myself.  So I figured with 4 adults and 1 of the boys it was the best time to try it.

It was a beautiful day sunny but not hot.  We figured out the final cache location quickly and started the walk just enjoying the view.  It took Ethan a little longer to get down the hill so Shawn and JJ already had the cache container by the time we got there.

Find 3 of 6 for the day.
(I know I skipped #2, that's because I had already found it Victor Falls - Revisited.)

Yet Another Winter Break Cache (GC22HA8)

Today I took my wife, son, and 2 of my brother-in-laws out geocaching.  For one of my brothers, JJ, it was the first time out caching it's always fun to cover a muggle.  The other brother Shawn, has been geocahing a few times but with limited success.

We start with this recent cache near our home I figured it would be a good intro geocache.  It didn't take a long to make the find and it was JJ who spotted the cache contain.  He is a picture of Ethan, my son, and JJ making the grab.

Find 1 of 6 for the day.

Woof! (GC12YEM)

Since we thought we didn't complete the webcam cache High Five over Eye Five (GCKVR5) we decided to look for another one on the way back to work.  This was a fairly easy find so which was just what we were looking for.

It only took us a minute to find the cache container.  The log was full and wet so we added some paper to the log and headed back to work.

Check out this cool waterfall fountain near the cache.

High Five over Eye Five (GCKVR5)

Today I took a buddy from work out geocaching with me at lunch.  This was our first webcam cache.  I know it's hard to see us but we are the 2 blobs in the middle.

The cache page said there was corresponding logbook.  We found the right area and search for a good long while.  We couldn't find the cache container and final gave up.  I was about to log this as a DNF but in reading all the logs it turns out the cache container and logbook we lost long ago.  So now this is just a standard webcam cache.

King Street Elevator (GC119JV)

Out for a quick find this morning when I got off the Sounder Train in Seattle.  This cache is on an outdoor elevator system right next to the train station.  In the background of the picture you can see the train station clock tower.

Ego Pill (Aragman) (GCX06F)

The 3rd geocache of the day is actually right next to the Wildwood Travel Bug Lodge (GCWXX5) there is a gate like 20 feet in front of where we parked and the geocache is at the bottom of the gravel road.  The problem was the gate was locked.  So we drove by and there wasn't another way down.  I told the boys we would have to do this one another day since the gate was locked and I wasn't sure if i wanted to go around it.

I had to go up  the road a ways to find a stop to turn around.  On the way back we saw 2 people leaving the area with their dogs and walking into the neighborhood across the street.  I figured if the neighbors go down there with the gate locked it must be ok.  So we parked at the top of the gate and walked down the gravel road.

It didn't take us long to find the geocache but long enough, Ethan jumped into a mud puddle and Oliver found a pile of pea gravel to play in.  So both boys were pretty dirty by the time we made the find.  But that's what boys do.

As I was loading the boys in the car there was another lady walking her dog headed to the gate so I assume it's normal for people to go for walks down the gravel road.

Wildwood Travel Bug Lodge (GCWXX5)

Our second stop of the day was at this travel bug lodge.  Since we just picked up the Auch 'ne Mark travel bug at the previous cache I figured we would just move it along at this cache.

Ethan made the find he was so excited that he found the geocache all by himself.

CoinEx (GC13MR3)

Julie had to work today so the boys and I when out geocaching. I have already found more caches in the first 2 days of January then I did in the whole month of December.

The Coin Exchange caches was our first stop of the day. It was a pretty cool coin only caches so I left the Skych1ck's Newfoundland Geocoin.  This was the first "In the woods" cache I have found in a while I think I am a little rusty as it took me a few minutes to find it.

We also picked up the Auch 'ne Mark travel bug.  It's goal is just to travle and visit all the geocaches.  I think I can help.

Bonney Lake Welcomes You! (GC1ZT4W)

For our final cache of the day we stopped at the Welcome to Bonney Lake sign on the way home.  The boys told me it had to be a "big one" they were tired of finding micros with no swag "Toys for them to trade".  So this was a good one since it's a regular sized ammo can.

It only took us a minute to find the cache container but it took them about 5 minutes each to pick what they wanted from the cache.

Another Winter Break Cache (GC22BM3)

After coffee and hot chocolate for the boys we found our second cache.  This was just a quick LPC (Lamp Post Cache) and it was starting to rain pretty hard so I ran out and grab it then brought it to the car so the boys could see it.

We found a pretty cool coin Skych1ck's Newfoundland Geocoin it's on a mission to see the First Sunrise in North America in Newfoundland, Canada.  While I won't be able to take it all the way to Canada I will see what I can do about moving it East.

Back to Rainier View Park (GC18PBC)

Happy New Years.  I have been telling the boys I would take them geocaching for a few days now.  But it's just been rainy and dark by the time we get home and have dinner.  So today was the day, it's still a little rainy but at least it daylight.  With a little bribe of Starbucks coffee I was able to convince Julie to come along too.

We headed down to Sumner to find our first cache of the new year.  I let Ethan lead the way using my new GPS.  It took him a minute or two to figure out how to use but once he did we were off.  It was a fairly easy cache at the local park so we signed the log and then we were off for coffee before finding the second cache of the day.
