Pinnacle (GCX100)

On the way back down I made Julie take a slight detour from her normal route to find this cache.  It was only a extra little loop but she wasn't too happy.  It didn't take me long to find the cache and we were able to follow the loop back to the main trail.

I was going to try to find the other 2 geocaches on the trial but I figured I better not since I had already pushed my luck to find this -one.  There will be a next time since this is one of Julie's favorite place to go to work out.  So I will save the other 2 for another day.

Peak-a-Boo (GC3B45)

Since Nanna "Julie's Mom" took the kids to church and Julie and I were done cleaning the house we decided to go climb Pinnacle Peak "Mt. Peak" to the locals.  It a good workout to get to the top because of steep incline but only takes about 30 minutes even for someone as out of shape as me.  Julie went for the workout and I went for the geocaches and the view.

The Peak-a-Boo cache isn't at the very top but just down from the top on one of side trails.  Once we got to the top we head down and found this cache.  It was a beautiful spot the view from here was better then the view from the top.

Wildwood Creek Wetlands (GC1AG0B)

This geocache is long a path around some local wetlands it was a great little walk and a good opportunity to teach the boys about wetlands.  They really liked this bridge over a little creak.  After signing the cache log and look at the birds it started to rain so we headed back to the car.  Just as we got to the car the rain really started to pick up so that was pretty much the end of our geocaching for today.

Croakers Hide Away (GC1J0TP)

Since the sun was still out we decided to go for another.  It took us a little while to find this one, it was very well hidden.  The trail was pretty muddy and Oliver slipped in the mud, he was ok he just lated on his butt.  The good news is geocache had some great toys for the boys so they were happy.

Between A Rock (GC12131)

The news said it was suppose to rain today but when I woke up it was sunny out.  I figured we could get in a few geocaches before the rain started.  The boys like the larger cache containers and since we have found all of them in Bonney Lake we headed to Puyallup.  This cache is just outside of Pierce College Puyallup Campus.  It didn't take long to find the cache once we found the right road.

Eagle's Landing (GC234BY)

I saw this hide from a mile away.  Good thing because my phone only had 1% battery power left.  I had just enough time to find the cache and take a few pictures before it died.

Strawberry Patch (GC18C7B)

This was my wife's first micro cache.  I was the one who found the cache but she thought it was cool.  I'm glad I found it this time of year I think it would be much more difficult in the summer time.

Rock Walls Really Bug Me!!! (GC2430V)

I took the wife and kids out for a few quick geocaches before dinner.  This geocache is in front of a 20ft wooden wall.  Before I had a chance to look around my wife thought it must be on top so up we went.  It wasn't that bad but it was pretty rocky for the little ones.  I ended up carrying Oliver all the way down, then turned around to go back for Ethan.

Once we got back down it was pretty easy to find the cache.  It's a cute little cache container.

The Sport "Pages" (GCNN9T)

Julie and I took the boys up to Federal Way to go play at Steel Lake Park and just hang out at some different parks then the few around out house. Oliver didn't want to be in the picture.

After playing at the park we headed over to Celebration Park to go for a little walk and find a Geocache.  It was such a beautiful afternoon.  We took some pictures with the sculptures in the park.

Ethan found the geocache hiding in an old stump.  He was so excited to be the one to find it.  He had a hard time pulling it out but he wanted to do it by himself.

It doesn't get much better then this.

Dance the Tarantella (GCPHV7)

This geocache was actually at the place we parked, we just missed it on the way out and figured we would get it on the way back.  But then over the course of the trip we decided to head back to the cars a different way.  We didn't think we would be able to get it because the kids were just too tired by that point and just wanted to get in the car.  After I loaded up the boys I check on my iPhone just to see how far away it was.  My phone said it was within 20 feet which means I was standing on top of it.

I check the hint at it said it was magnetic which told me it was the gate at the entrance to the trail.  Google street view will give you an idea of the hidding spot.

The cool thing about geocache is the cache container.  I was so tried by this point I didn't even thing to take a picture but here is a cool picture of the cache container and her horse.

Where's the Other Cul de Sac, Dang It! (GCYH6J)

This is another mystery cache.  This one is involving decoding a Stereogram picture, see if you can figure it out.

Once you know where to look there is only one obvious spot for the geocache to be.  You can see here the kids hovering looking for treasures.

Here is a pretty cool picture from Sugarloaf at sunset.  I didn't take the picture but another geocacher posted it on this cache page.

Hear Me (GCGJCW)

This is a mystery cache meaning the coordinates listed on the cache page are not the real coordinates.  The real coordinates are written out in Morse code.  You have to decode it before you will know where to look.  John was nice enough to decode this for us before we left.

The actual cache was pretty easy to find once you knew where to look.  Once I was within 50 feet I was able to just walk up and find it without the GPS.

All the Cool Cachers go to Sugarloaf (GCZ1B0)

I think the title of this geocache says it all.  John found the cache while I was keeping the kids occupied.

Ethan found a cool parachute guy, he has been playing with it nonstop since we got home today.

Sugarloaf (GCPHTF)

After lunch we continued on the hike.  This beautiful view is the view from our next geocache location.  There were a few sticker bushes between us and the cache container so I made the grab while John and the kids stayed on the trail.  What a beautiful place to live.  On the rare sunny day in Washington, it doesn't get any better then this.

3rd Sugarloaf View (GCYD26)

This was our 3rd find for the 3rd Sugarloaf View, it seemed fitting.  We decided to stop for lunch and enjoy the view.

Ethan was showing me some of his cool moves.

Another trip up Sugarloaf (GCYJ3F)

It didn't seem like it was that far between our first and second find of the day but given the kids needing to stop every few second it took us almost an hour.

I found this beautiful Templar Geocoin it was a little wet but cleaned up nicely.  The coin doesn't really have a mission it just wants to travel around.

Happy Hunting (GCZ0PY)

Today, I took the boys on a geocaching trip up Sugarloaf Mountain.  We met up with John Jchaager and his 3 kids.  This was our first find of the day.  Since it was a beautiful sunny day it was a fairly easy find.

I picked up the I Want to Visit Molokai Travel Bug, on a mission  to get to Hawaii, or more specifically the remote island of Molokai.  As much as I would love to be able to take this bug all the way to Hawaii I will help it along it's way shortly.

Beam Me Up Scottie (GC16E4K)

Well finally, my 100th find.  I took the whole family out tonight to make the find.  It was our first night time cache, it's pretty cool for this one you have to bring a remote from home and there is a IR receiver hooked up to an LED light as you walk around pushing buttons the light will flash and point you to the geocache. At first I couldn't find it because the clue was find the LED light and the geocache was 11 feet to the right.  We looked and looked with no luck then I ignored the 11th foot clue and just looked for the cache.  It turns out someone moved it to right behind the LED light.

The Dark Hole (GC23PWE)

We were only going to find one geocache today but the boys wanted to find another and who am I to say no :-) This was just a quick park and grab but it was big enough for some toys for the boys.

Will My Sister Find It #3 (GC23PEK)

Took the boys out for a fun afternoon.  This is a fairly new geocache and we had to find it since it's in the parking lot of my wifes work.  At first the boys though we were going to see mom at work but I had to explain we were just here for the geocache.

BAFOON (GCZPJM)

This was our second one of the day.  Since the first was micro I decided to drive out a little to fine a larger sized cache hopefully with some treasures for the boys to trade.  The cache pages says just off the trail and the tree line so when we get to the tree line we find a nice little trail off the main trail and we start looking.

Soon enough a nice elderly man, John, comes walking by with his dog and stop to ask if we had lost something.  It was the first time I had ever ran into a muggle while looking for a geocache.  Since he didn't look like the type to try to steal a geocache I didn't see any reason to lie so I told him we were geocaching.  I figured I would have to spend the next few minutes explaining geocaching but he instantly said, "I know what that is I have a friend who does it all the time."  He told me his friends name but of course without a geocaching name I have no idea who anyone is.

So we keep looking and John calls his friend to tell him he just ran into a fellow geocacher and to see if he has any idea where the cache might be.  Since I had walked back to the main trail to take to John it didn't take me long to see there was another small train on the other side of course that is where the geocache would have to be :-)

I gave John one of my wooden nickels and asked him to pass it along to his friend, I figured that way at least they would know who I was.  A few day later I get an email from The DuHawks, for those who don't know they have either placed or found every geocache in the area.  The boys and I have made a entire day of just finding cache they placed in Sumner.  Once I saw their geocaching name I knew exactly who John was talking about.

As you can see Oliver was more interested in the dog then in the geocache.  I was nice to run into John and hoepfully all muggles I meet will be so nice.

DNC Micro Cache #4 (GC20NQJ)

The weather was nice and the boys wanted to go outside so we when to the park and did a little geocaching.

This cache was just a little altoids gum tin.  It was a quick find but the boy love seeing if there is an treasure.  Normally with micros there isn't but this one had a little carabiner inside.
